Harvest

Harvest: Harvest is a unique term used in the world of Art of Hosting. It describes a process that focuses on documenting the insights gained in a process and sharing those insights with the participants either in real time or at a later date. Photography, graphic recording, and utilizing templates are all ways to harvest a process. The key goal is that participants walk a way with shared ownership of and access to the knowledge created during the meeting or process. Harvest can be showcase a single day’s work or work completed over several years. It can be collected into printed formats, such as reports, or online, such as a website.

This resource book was developed out of a desire to document the three year long journey of the GovJoy network and show case the many tools and strategies available. Jessica documented their work through photography and graphic recording and created a website. In order to more throughly pull together the story, Jessica designed the workbook to share at conferences, online, and in person.

The playbook developed after project managing three eradication campaigns. The Project manager wanted a document that would share our lessons learned with other state pest management practitioners. With her intimate knowledge of the project, Jessica was able to brainstorm the many strategies used during the project, turned them into a pattern language, and then wrote many of the strategy descriptions. Jessica also documented the project through photography, providing additional visual content for the playbook.
